The short version: Imudb's Rap Writer has no accounts, no ads and no tracking cookies. Your lyrics, beats and recordings are saved in your own browser on your device. We never receive them. To find rhymes, single words are sent to a free dictionary service, and your browser loads the app's font from Google.
This policy explains how Imudb ("we", "us") handles information when you use Imudb's Rap Writer (the "App"), a free songwriting tool from Imudb.co. It covers the App and its help and legal pages. Other parts of Imudb.co may have their own policies.
1. Information stored on your device
Everything you create in the App is saved by your browser, on your device, using standard web storage (localStorage and IndexedDB):
- Your songs: lyrics, song titles, BPM, saved versions and Bar Bank entries.
- Beats you load or generate, and recordings you make in the Booth.
- App preferences (such as the Auto rhyme setting) and a cache of word pronunciations used by the rhyme map.
This information is not sent to our servers, and we cannot see, access or recover it. It stays in the browser where you created it until you delete it. Clearing your browser's site data, using a private or incognito window, or removing the browser can erase it, so use Projects → Export Backup to keep a copy of your lyrics. Backup files are saved wherever you choose and stay under your control.
2. Microphone
The Booth asks your browser for microphone access only when you press REC. Your recording is stored in your browser and is not uploaded to us or anyone else. You can turn off microphone access for this site at any time in your browser settings.
3. Information our server receives
When you open the App or its pages, your browser sends a standard web request to our server. Like almost every website, our hosting may automatically log technical details such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. We use this only to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems, and we keep it for a limited period.
The random topic generator also sends a request to our server. That request contains no personal information and nothing you have written.
4. Third-party services
For some features, your browser connects directly to these services:

Only individual words are sent to Datamuse, never your full lyrics. These providers handle data under their own terms and policies (see the Datamuse API and the Google Privacy Policy) and may process it in the United States or other countries.
5. Cookies and tracking
The App does not set cookies and does not use analytics, advertising or social media trackers. The browser storage described in section 1 is used only to make the App work and does not leave your device.
If we add analytics or advertising in the future, we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.
6. Links to other websites
The App links to other websites, such as free beat sources and Imudb.co. Those sites have their own privacy practices, so please review their policies. Some links may be affiliate links; see our Affiliate Disclosure.
7. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age that applies in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App has no accounts, so we don't collect names, email addresses or profiles from anyone.
8. Your choices and rights
- Delete your songs: use Projects → Delete Song, or clear this site's data in your browser settings.
- Keep a copy: use Projects → Export Backup, or Export on any song.
- Server logs: depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or US state laws such as the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold, or to object to how it is used. The only personal information we may hold about you is the technical log data in section 3. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
9. Legal basis (EU and UK)
Where the GDPR applies, we process server log data based on our legitimate interest in running and securing the site. Information stored in your browser stays on your device and is controlled by you.
10. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the site. Because your work is stored on your device, keeping your device and browser secure also protects your songs.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App changes. We will change the "Last updated" date at the top, and for significant changes we will make reasonable efforts to let you know in the App.
